Help with Explorer

I just reformatted my computer...I want to run MSN 7.0..but I need Internet Explorer 6...I currently have 5.5 and every time I try to install the Explorer 6 it says something like "You have all the current files on your computer but some files couldn't download...And in this case some is all...none of it downloads onto my computer...

I reformatted after I ran a virus check and killed a worm...but now my explorer won't update anyone got any ideas?

I'm running ME btw

By explorer, do you mean windows update won't run? Do you get any error messages, and if so, what do they say? You could try a repair install, although I've heard that they aren't always successful.

"Setup was unable to install all components please close all applications and try running again.." But I had nothing else open and I mean not even system tray...

Thats what it says and yeah its windows update I can't seem to find any other way to dl IE6 other then windows update..Is there a zip file or something out there that you don't need the update to get IE6?

I click help and it says this..."It appears you have the correct setup files, but the installation failed. Try closing down all other programs and try running Setup again. If that still does not work, contact Microsoft Product Support Services for additional help."

How do I do a repair install if it would work??..
