So here in NE it can get pretty darn cold in the winter. Our house isn't exactly the warmest house on the block because we like to save energy. I really don't like the cold that much though so I got a heater to put in my room.

Those of you who have had a component die have probably wondered what caused it to go bad. Things like hard disks and fans have moving parts, so mechanical failures make sense. Simple friction and heat cause things like head actuators and disk heads to fail after their lifespan is up. Motherboards have capacitors which fail. Conventional electrolytic capacitors, especially when in CPU voltage regulators, are under a lot of stress and can fail or even explode. But what about the true solid state...
