Hey guys,i wanna know what's the difference between a 1st gen ipod,2nd gen ipod and a 3rd gen ipod 8gb

I know that the 2G has buttons on the side, and is also a hair smaller. I have the 1G, and I can't find cases for it in any store, cuz they only carry them for the 2G and 3G. I had to order a slip skin online. Only spent $4 after shipping, but I have to wait to get it.
