Audio cassette >>> CD

I'm not sure this is the right forum for this question, but, here goes:

I have a set of audio cassettes that I want to transcribe onto CD's.

These are mono audio, all voice, - Books on Tape.

Can I patch from the headphone output of my little cassette player to the mic input of my PC directly and will that work?

I suppose I COULD put the PC's mic near the cassette players speaker, but.. I'd rather get better quality than that.

Suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Audio cassette >>> CD

Connect it to the line in socket on your sound card or PC and not the mic input

Yeah right, that makes sense, thanks.

I'm assuming I can get a patch device the allows the mono cassette output to travel to both channels of the stereo "line in" jack. Sounds like a Radio Shack item.

Thanks for the input..

Re: Audio cassette >>> CD

Your cassette player would be stereo and you would need a stereo connector at both ends even if you are playing mono tapes
