I have a Denon DP-26F turntable that has been sitting unused for a few years. I have set it back up--the band is on the on the bottom of the platter correctly and wrapped correctly around the drive roller. There is power getting to the turntable because if you touch the needle there is noise coming from my amplifier.
What do I need to do to get the drive roller spinning again? Please help, I've got a ton of old LP's that I want to play and record onto CD's. Thank you in advance. |

Re: Denon turntable drive roller not spinning
Could it be that the band has lost its elasticity and no longer gripping the drive properly?
If that is the case, getting a replacement is not easy. A solution would be to take the broken band into your local model hobby shop and see if you can get a length of rubber stock of a similar thickness. Cut it to the appropriate length and butt the two ends together with super glue. I managed to get an old tape recorder back into working condition doing this...

Re: Denon turntable drive roller not spinning
Thanks for the reply. The Band seems to be gripping ok. I also wet the band slightly to increase its grip. The problem is that the drive roller itself is not spinning. I've tried spinning the drive roller by hand for a while, just in case it might start spinning on its own--my old tape deck reels sometimes needed a boost to get spinning--but this did not work. Any other ideas are welcome--got too many classic albums to record onto CD which are not available for download on-line.
