VCR head cleaner.
We've got an old TV here that works rather well. However, the only input is coax. In conjunction with that, we have a rather old VCR/DVD combo having coax in and out. That's all fine but the VHS playback is shaky. The machine emits a weird hum but we want to go with the cheapest option, which for me would be to clean the heads. Now we have a head cleaner. I suppose it is a light abrasive as the cleaning element looks just like VHS tape. What would be a good alternative? I used to prefer the cleaners that utilized a cleaning solvent.
Now I realize some may say,"Go out and get a new VHS/DVD combo." Now we have gone down that route and the new combo units do not incorporate coax inputs or outputs. I tried the adaptor approach(allow for RCA inputs into the veteran TV), and I either got it wrong or it just doesn't work that way. So, for now, we're going to salvage the existing combo, if we can improve the VHS playback. |
