No Dectection: MP3 Player

When I plug my MP3 player to the computer, the computer and windows media player does not detect it. I don't know what to do...any help?

I take it this is one of those Windows XP only devices.

What mp3 player do you have? Please tell us the make & model.

Not sure if this helps, but once, a long time ago, the same thing happened to me with mi ipod. And, after many many months, I found out that the problem was caused by a bunch of files left over by the program Daemon Tools (the one for creating virtual CD units). I removed those files and the computer started to recognized the ipod once again.
Unfortunately I can't rember the name of the files, but searching google about Daemon Tools related mp3 players problems should help you.
