How do I view my laptop on my Mitsu.1080P?

Problem is with my Mitsubishi 1080P television, it is a large flatscreen. I plug my laptop's video port into one of the HDMI ports on the back of the TV. The TV recognizes that I've hooked up a PC, but when selected, fails to produce any image whatsoever. Any ideas?

Welcome to TSF.

Two things to check: make sure the comp is set to a resolution that the TV can handle. The owners manual for the TV will tell you. Second: every laptop has a function key that cycles the display from laptop>separate monitor>both. Find this key and you'll probably find your problem.

You could get a converter box, but you may lose some picture quality.
