[SOLVED] Ultimate Portable Entertainment System
Ok, I want to buy the ultimate media and game playing device that will cost me under $350 (If it's something like the PSP which has removable memory, I would like that cost to include enough memory for 4-8GB). I would like it to have more than 100GB of space if there is no removable memory. Touch screen is preferable, but not a must. I don't want it to be very big either (unless it's all screen
). Is there any such thing out there? I have been doing research for a while and haven't found much. Thanks for any help. I was also wondering about the PSP; can I move movies from my computer to the memory stick and play them on the PSP? Also, how is the web browsing on it. Right now it seems like my best option because i can spend way less on it than an iPod and get almost all of the benefits. Anyway, I appreciate any help. |

Re: Ultimate Portable Entertainment System
Well, the psp fullfills your 'needs' but it may end up costing you a bit more for the memory upgrade.
The movies on the psp require a .mp4 extension to play to you'll need to convert your movies (same goes for the ipod) I think the web browsing would be similar to what you would get on a high end mobile phone. (Just as a side note, I don't actually own a psp ) The ipod is a lot cheaper (depending on the model obviously) but you can't really play games on it, well, not the same type of games that you could in the psp. However, I think it's possible to install linux on the ipod (my friend tried but ended up having to format it cause it messed up) so I guess that would enable you to play a wider selection of games |

Re: Ultimate Portable Entertainment System
yea, my friend has put lenux on his mini, he can play Doom now. i looked up memory card costs and i can get a psp 2000 with 8GB of space, an extra battery, a hard case, and a screen protector for a little less than an iPod original 20GB ($336 roughly, ipod price include $50 ac adapter) so i as long as i can transfer movies, i am set. thanks guys.

Funny you should mention that. In my early days of converting video's, the audio did go out of sync but after trying different programs, that problem was fixed so no you shouldn't.
Not sure about the adaptor, but there should be a few of em floating around. |

That usually works alright. The one I use isn't free, called Xillisoft (i think) |
