S/PDIFto RCA?

Well, my reciever doesnt have spdif just RCA left and right (think i have that right) but my sound card has spdif, wich i belive IS for output to the reciver. Anyways i was thinking seein as it doesnt have spdif i could get one of these
and have the rca output, the reason i am asking is would it still sound like decent surround sound? or just put sound in all channels?

Yes, the S/PDIF will send encoded audio to the receiver. There it gets separated into the proper channels. Does your receiver not have surround decoding capabilities? If not then even buying that device, all you'll be able to do is drive two speakers left/right. That device does not appear to do any processing. For not much more than that, you can buy a decent receiver that can decode the S/PDIF directly from the sound card.
