microSD with Nokia 6131

Hi all,
This is my first post even though i have found solutions to a tech problem more than twice on these forums (through searches).
Anyway, since my problem is along the same lines i thought maybe i could continue with this thread.
I also have a nokia 6131 with the exact same firmware and manufacture dates.
However, i bought a 2GB sandisk microsd card and the phone just wont recognise it. when i plug it in nothing happens, so am at a loss since i was under the impression that this phone accepts upto 2gb cards.
am currently using a kingston 512mb which works just fine.
help me out if you can.
