At the moment, dual-core CPUs aren't really any better than single-core CPUs - unless, as forcifer stated, you do a lot of multitasking. However, buying a dual-core CPU is still a good idea, because not too far in the future, a lot of applications and games will take advantage of dual-core technology - and then dual-core CPUs WILL be better than single-core ones.

i agree
i think that if u are a heavy computer user (like me) then u should get it . i mean ... its worth the time u'll spend waiting on ur computer to load in application im still saving up some money to upgrade to a dual core also im looking into dual screen also ive realized that having a dual screen will speed up the stuff i have to do on the computer since i don thave to switch back to one application to another (which is a crazy pain in the a$$) |

I was reading up today on the latest from the quad core camp. Apparently it's not even close to worth it. $2,000 worth of VIDEO hardware plus any other upgrades you may need to make.
As far as dual, I'm only making the move to dual-core CPUs, not video. My current video cards run dual displays easily so why spend more money?

I just set up dual view on my computer with my new lcd and old crt. Its great to have. The one thing that I like the most about it is how I can run full screen games and such on one monitor and see whats happaning with another application on the other. I highley recomend it for anyone who does alot of multitasking or work that needs efficiancy.
