PC to TV Prob [nVidia]

Hello

I've got installed one amongst some of the latest nVidia geforce mx 460 driver.

I have been trying for a very v long time to get nView working so I can see the screen on my tv. In total I've spent around 15 hours trying to work it over a span of three years.

nView used to work with an old tv, but since then, I've bought a much newer Panasonic Quintrix TV and updated my graphics card driver from the nvidia website.

I have tried so many ways to try and work it, but all I get is a light blue screen on my tv, and a flicker of the blue when I set an option [such as changing the display mode to 'clone']

Instead of me writing an exceedingly long essay on what things I've done to try and work it, please suggest what I should do to make it appear on my tv.

Thanks for your time :-)

Y. M.

Heres something that worked for a friend of mine. We struggled with this
for hours. There is a setting in display properties to adjust the hertz.
Like my pc is set to 75hz. If I wanted to do video out you must set the
hertz lower. The tv cant handle that type of refresh rate. Just a thought.
Give it a try, cant hurt.

Thanks 4 that suggestion manic ;-)

In my disp properties settings, my monitor was set to 60. I can't make it any lower. The lowest seems to be 60hz. Any suggestions?

PS, if its worth anything, on the back of my tv it says '50hz' somewhere.

well to answer one of your questions, you can't go lower than 60...
and just to clarify you did right click on desktop and go into teh cards settings and go to tools to make sure its set to display on both screens right?
there are a few things you can do in there such as force tv detection, try that and just mess around in there for a while. Idk what to tell ya, my 6800 hasn't had problems doing this

Are you using the S-video out to display on the TV? Or the DVI? Make sure you do the following:
Set the output to the proper resolution:
480 x 640 (SD), 720 x 1280 (HD), or 1080 x 1920 (HD hi res).
Set the color quality to 32 bit high color.
Set the external display settings in the graphics card settings, not in the windows display properties.

I managed to find the resolution option in the nvidia menu and set the output to the sd option you provided. i couldnt however find the option where i can change the bit, all i could find it the windows disp menui i can change the bit, and it was already on 32bit.

when i chnaged the res to 640by480, my tv screen flickered abit butstayed blue but made a diff sound. u know on crt tv when you go close you can hear like a high pitch buzz? well then went more buzzy and lower pitch when i chanhed the opt

Is there an option in the nVidia settings to detect connections? If so, does it detect the TV?

It almost sounds like the RG colors aren't comming out, only the B is, but S-video is not a RGB plug. Does it do the same thing on another TV? Do other devices do the same thing when you use the same input?

I don't have another device to try it on which is a shame.

But, if it's of any use, I have an xbox connected to the same tv through the composite [yellow] female on the tv, and that works fine. Also, once before i used a composite to svid adaptor on the xbox and plugged the xbox into the svid on my tv and that also worked fine.

so its definitely an nvidia pc graphics prob?

I think I may have a solution:
Go into the nVidia control pannel and find something that is called color correction. You will see a diagnal line. With scroll two boxes above it. Select each option in the top box, and make sure that all channels are selected for each.

Hi TheMatt

I don't think I fully get you. I've taken a screenshot of my screen on the menu you mentioned, please tell me what to change from here.

thankyou

I was looking at my dads GeForce 6100 to figgure out how to do it so thats why its different. Everything looks good there, so thats not it. The only other thing I would do is update or reinstall the driver and see if that fixes it. Otherwise, I think it might just be a physical problem with the S-video. If your card has a VGA output that you are not using, you can get a VGA to S-video converter. You can also get a seperate PCI S-video out. If your card is still under waranty, you can send it back to get it repaired or replaced.
