GPU Core running hot lately
So earlier today my GPU core alarm goes off because it's at 120, and the ambient is at 70, which I've never had a problem with before. I started dual screening about a week ago, but until now it's been fine.
So after this happened, my normal gpu core temp is like 111C under load and 80C idle, which is quite higher than normal for me. Should I be worried? What should I do about this? It's an eVGA 6800GT 256MB. |

Hi,
Have you gone in with a can of air and blown the dust out of the heatsink and fan? That is what I would do first. Also, make sure that fan has not quit on you.

Nah fan is working fine, I cleaned it earlier with a Q-tip, but haven't had the time to get any compressed air. No changes except for when I boot games like WoW it takes a while for everything to completely appear, like characters, and other models. A lot slower than normal.

Hi again,
Just for kicks, run this program and see what readings it gives you for temperatures, voltages, and fan speeds: SensorView Pro (Free to try for like 21 days – Is excellent) http://www.stvsoft.com/download.php?id=122 Report back so we can get a comparison. Be sure to run it both at-rest and under-stress for the temperatures.

Hi,
My recommendation for the best reading is the link I gave you above. I have not been impressed with the data that MBM5 gives you. The link I gave you is a very small download, perfectly safe, and provides very clear data.
