ATI (xtasy 9600) video card / hardware problem

Hey, heres the problem..

i have an Xtasy ATI 128mb card on my custom-made computer. It worked fine for about 6 monthes, but now when i do something with high stress (ie, play video-games) the computer will shut off. Now i thought this could be power or heating.. but i have a 600-watt power supply. Overheating would be another possibility (as the fan seems to speed up right before it crashes) but i have about 7 fans. Those facts dont rule out that being the problem - but just wanted a second opinion. Tried reinstalling drivers.. no luck. This problem didnt suddenly occur after i upgraded drivers etc. Dont *think* i could have done anything to trigger it

thanks alot

Leo

Hi,

Tell us more about your unit, like motherboard, CPU, brand name of the power supply. If you have an onboard program to monitor heat and voltages, then share those readings with us. If you don't have an onboard program, then here is a free one:

Speedfan will tell you the temperatures and a whole lot more. It's free

or

http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

When you test the temps, try it both at-rest (idle) and under-stress (playing a game) for best results.

Other information that would be helpful includes where are fans placed and which way are they blowing? Which direction is your heatsink fan blowing (like up or down)? Does the Heatsink/CPU have the factory pad or Artic Silver between them as a thermal solution?

Post back and we can take a look at your issues.
