nVidia GeForce FX problem
I have an nVidia GeForce FX AGP video card, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be working correctly. In the Device Manager, it is missing! There are no display adapters whatsoever in the Device Manager. There was a driver in Add/Remove Programs, so I uninstalled that and restarted, hoping the computer would detect the card once I got back into Windows. However, it did not. Still, I tried to install a driver, only to have it tell me that it couldn;t find a compatible video card. I went into BIOS to make sure that my primary display was set to AGP, and it is. I would appreciate any hjelp that anyone can offer.
Also, I'm having some APM issues, and my understanding is that these types of problems are often connected to the video card driver in some way. Could this be the case in this instance? Thanks again for any help! |

I just wanted to add that I have tried installing other similar video cards and my PC behaves the same way in every instance. It does not detect any of them, and if I try to install a driver anyway, it tells me it can't find a compatible video card.

Hi,
All you need is to download the driver from here http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp Select "graphics driver" in the first box Select "geforce and tnt" in the second box select your operating system in the third. download and follow the instructions to install. Besure to read the "driver installation hints" If after trying that driver and it still gives the "can't find" message maybe the agp slot is bad and the card is not recognized Rick Last edited by Doby; 03-21-2006 at 08:57 PM. |
