6200 pci (only PCI) gameplay freezing

Hi, This is my first post. I just bought a 6200 Pci card from 3dfuzion (my computer does not have agp or pci-express-don't laugh) and I successfully installed it. I have used 3 different drivers (the one on the original disk and the 83.91 and 84.21 from Nvidia), did uninstall and driver cleaner before installing the drivers and the card almost works great. In every FPS tried it on (Halo, HL2, Serious Sam II) it will freeze at some point in the game-sometimes after a few minutes or sometimes after 15 minutes or so. The freeze will last for about 10 seconds and then go back to normal. I did not overclock and have no heat issues. I have 1.5G ram with 2.8g p4 and never had this problem with my previous card which is a 5700le. My power supply is 300W which is the minimum recommended by 3dfuzion and I have no background programs open. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, welcome to TSF.

Your 300W Power Supply Unit is probably too low for 3D games. Open your case and have a look at the details on the PSU label. Then download Everest and go to Computer > Sensor to get the voltage values.

Post back with the Everest readings and PSU details.

Thanks Koala

I think you are right. Although I have opened up my computer case many times to change video cards, sound cards, add memory etc. I never read the label on the PSU. Stupid me! I believed emachines when they told me I have a 300w power supply. It clearly says on the label, Bestec 250W! So I probably am definitely underpowered. I guess I just got lucky with my 5700le which probably draws less power than my new 6200. I definitely will take this issue up with emachines which of course is now owned by Gateway. By the way I did download Everest as you suggested and I will be using it in the future as it does a good job of monitoring my system. It gives me a good feeling that the first time I used this forum someone was able to help me. Thanks again
Koala!

Hi

Most likely is the power supply but just another note, seeing as this is a pci card make sure that there is no other pci card in the slot next to it. This condition sometimes can not let enough cool air get around the card and cause it to overheat.
