Need desperate support :)

Okay,

Ibought a new nVidia graphics card and put into my computer got it set up and it froze everytime i tried to run something with like basic graphics, so i posted on this forum and i was told to get a new power supply as the old one was only 300W i got myself a new one at 500W and the box on the graphics card says that it needs a minumum of 300W so this is not the problem anymore.....

I put the power supply in the computer ran the game i have been trying to play and lone behold same problem....

What is the real problem i have spent annother £200 getting this computer to work by trying all of the suggestions everywhere so what is wrong my details are in annother post by me...... dunno if you have a search function but ti should be lying arround still.....

Help me plz

Send a message via AIM to elf
Download and install the newest drivers for your card if you have not already done so. I skimmed your previous post and there doesn't seem to be any mention of drivers, and they are vitally important to a functioning video card.

The newest ones can be found HERE

edit: oh wait, I just saw you said you did have the newest ones. Does it freeze in every game or just one particular game?

I agree with elf it sounds more like a software problem than a hardware problem.

How's the temp of your cpu. If you system doesn't have a monitor download speedfan or a similar program and monitor your temp. Your cpu could be getting too hot. You can also go into the bios and watch the cpu temp under system health. If it gets to 60C fast and keeps climbing you probably need to reseat your cpu heatsink and apply new thermal compound.

Hi,

I would do the suggestion that Jnob gave you before you get any further. Heat can cause exactly what you describe, but that does not mean this is the issue.

I would however prefer you report your temps and let us (any tech on here) talk to you about them before you take action. That way we might have multiple solutions or some real simple ones depending upon what you found.

Post back with results.

I had two Nvidia cards on which the fans stopped. This caused the chip to overheat and caused problems. Check your fan is working properly.

Hi,

For the life of me, I can't get your photobucket picture large enough to see anything, therefore, can't help with what it says. The outline picture on the outside is very large, but the things we need to see are very, very small so we can't read what it says. Perhaps jnob can get it large enough to read, or you can simply copy the stats for us to view. Sorry.

Hi,

Good morning. When you get into it again, post the rest of the Speedfan readings. Like cpu - 44c, etc. Also, post the voltages that it gives you. If you could just blow that thing up, it would work. If you are using a direct connection and not a monitor from the power supply to the fans, it would not list them and as long as they are working, don't sweat that one.

It is a brand new computer so i am not expecting to have to change any thermal compunds at all i should hope....

But i have gone and found a file hosting thing on google as not even the attach thing seems to want to work and here is the link for it.....

http://www.yourfilelink.com/get.php?fid=52695

You must look at the file within 30 days or it will delete itself off of the site....

Hi,

Did you load the graphics drivers that elf lead you to? Just seems that there is some "little" thing that is keeping this card from working properly. The 45c for rest is too hot, but I can't believe that it gets that much hotter under stress. Just for kicks, put this baby through stress (playing the game) and then take a temp reading before it crashes. Just see how hot it gets.

Did you put this PC together yourself? Where did you buy it from? Your internal temperature seems ok but the processor is hot. Your fan speed seems low for a processor fan, my stock fan runs between 2500 and 4500rpms.
