HELP: Video Problems: Green/Blue lines, Random text, characters...
Aaaaand my recent hellish computer problems continue...ugh
Ok so my new bfg nforce4 mobo is installed in my comp. I formated my partition and reinstalled xp. But I'm getting intermitent graphic issues. When I first boot up I get Short horizontal green lines running in vertical rows up and down the screen. Plus most dashes in my text with the occasional number or letter and space. Then windows starts and I get blue cuts horizontally across the screen. This doesn't happen ALL the time. It seems to occur when I install new software that is related to video. I installed a new game demo and it happend. It also happend when I installed the video drivers and a few other programs. It seems to be fixed when I pull out the video card and put it back in. Oh and after I installed the most recent program that caused this I was getting a no keyboard error for the first few reboots. I have absolutely zero idea what this could be. The video card is new from BFG who sent it to me back when I thought my bad mobo was caused by my video card. Anyone have any suggestions on this. I could really use help on this one. My current setup is... MOBO: BFG nForce4 Ultra ATX Socket 939 Motherboard for AMD Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX VIDEO CARD: VGA BFG| 6800GT 256MB DVI TV RT PROCESSOR: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3200BPBOX RAM: gigaram 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model GR9053-512MB/400/SA - Retail Power Supply: Thermaltake Silent PurePower TT-420AD(DUAL FAN) ATX 420W Power Supply HDs: Western Digital Caviar SE WD3200JD 320GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive WinXP |

I did actually try another card and it worked, but it was an old pci card, not a PCI-E card, so while that tells me that my mobo's pci slots are working it doesn't really tell me if it's my pci-e card or something to do with my pci-e slot.
My first guess would be the card too, but I just sent the thing back to BFG and it took months and two sendings of the wrong card before they got me the right card back, and I loathe to deal with them again. I'm so so tired of this. |

An update:
I checked my Device Manager and I've got a nice little "!" that says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" Dunno what the means exactly in relation to my problem, though maybe someone else does? |

Just a bit of advice to everyone who doesn't already know this...
NEVER EVER deal with with CompUSA they are the biggest bunch of *** **** ***** I've ever encountered. I took the computer back in and apparently they don't even have any spare parts to use to see if there something wrong with it. They just have a stupid software diagnostic program that runs in windows that's supposed to tell them what's broken. But without a spare PCI-E card to ensure that's the problem there's no being sure. How in the hell can a store that sells computers and computer parts and fixes computers not have any spare parts at all? What kind incompetent bullsh!te is that? Freaking frustrating as hell. Local computer stores are usually much better then the giants. I have lots of geek squad stories that would crack you up. :) bunch of morons out there managing bunch of other morons and in the end they are calling this a business. Try a local computer store. You have a better chance. Nothing guaranteed :D They would charge you a diagnostic fee of about $35-45
