i would suggest getting a top end graphics card of the last generation like a x800XL PCI-e or a 6800GT PCI-e. I woul not go with the x1300 series even if they are cheap they just dont bring the performance.
If you dont use your computer for gaming then the x1300 series is just fine and it will still play almost everygame but not at the greatest quality. I do not think that your graphics card is underpowered as i researched the PSU a little and it is a 480w atx 2.01 and designed for PCI-e so there should not be a problem.I can only find it on russian websites so i am not 100% sure. Maybe you can test it with another video card ? as dai mentioned that error often occurs with a bad driver install and messes up the compatibility and wont let the computer boot. If it works with another card fine then something is messed up either with the drivers or the card. So i would suggest then installing new drivers for the 6600gt and testing it then. If it still doesnt work after the new drivers then see if you can get a return for the 6600gt and get a new card good luck

Personally, I would suggest an x800xl or xt (don't bother with the 512MB versions - this much memory on VPU is still a waste at this point; even the most demanding games don't really make use of this and with your processor, you certainly will not notice any difference). I have an x800xl and it works wonders. The last generation's top cards have much more value for money than the current-gen because they still have great performance, while their prices have dropped considerably. Good luck.
Cheers, Al |
