Video capture no longer works

I installed a new hard drive, installed all the software and drivers that came with the pc, and now the video capture feature doesn't work. I get a msg that says it's not connected. If the msg means the video and audio cables aren't plugged into the pc, it's wrong. because they are. It's an nvidia Ti4200 with 128 megs. It worked before. Is there someplace to turn this feature on? I also can't find the audio control panel, the one where you turn speakers on, mike on, mute, line in, etc. Where did that go?

Looks as if no one has a clue. I was wondering if maybe some WMD drivers are needed. Anyone know about this?

Hi
The audio control should be in control panel under sounds and audio devices click on audio and volume it should give you choice of mike etc go to properties in this section for output and input
