I want to overclock. How?
I have a Geforce FX5200 256mg and I would like to get some more power out of it. Any ideas on where I can get a program that will allow this or would my best bet be to go into bios and change the frequency? I'm well aware of the possibility of card damage but I honestly don't mind. I have another card if anything does happen to this one.

Overclocking video cards is not done in the BIOS. It's done with utility programs. The easiest way to do basic overclocking on NVIDIA cards is with CoolBits. This page explains how to use CoolBits for underclocking but all you do to overclock is increase the clocks instead of decrease them. By the way, you can easily damage video cards when overclocking and you're not going to be able to get much of improvement out of an FX5200 even with improved cooling.

Like said above, you won't see big gains with that card as even my 6600GT didn't show huge gains (but any are welcome!).
nVidia makes a registry file that enables overclocking options in their software. It even has automatic overclocking or will recommend an optimal overclock setting for you in manual mode if you wish. http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/n...i=&p_topview=1 If for some reason that link doesn't work for you, visit nvidia.com --> support --> FAQs and Knowledgebase and search for "overclock" and it will be the first result. The tweakui.reg file is linked to from that page. |
