Upgrading laptop's GPU

My laptop currently has a Mobility Radeon 9000. Obviously I need an upgrade, but I'm having trouble finding one about the 9600. I know ATI has their new X1K laptop series out? But I can't find it sold seperately from a laptop, the only options I can find are to buy a laptop that already has one installed. Can someone help me out with this?

Generally that is the only option. In some cases there are units within the same model range that came with optional upgrades. For instance, my Acer Aspire 1522LMi came with an S3 GPU, but the upgraded model comes with an nVidia 5700 Go GPU. Since they are the same model I can purchase the 5700 and install it with no problems. For other laptops it's impossible.
