ati x800xl video card

I had a customer that had a radeion x800xl video card had me install it well the company said no extra power supply needed except i saw that it needed a pci express plug and ordered it. Installed the cable installed the card no beeps no messages everything went find has a 650w power supply to sata drive hot swappable one Ide drive to fans on on the case and one over the cpu two dvd burners. Installed everything went ok had video up to hour and half everything great. Last night customer called me said he had no video and i ask if he tried reseating the card he said he had and also installed he old card to see if the slot worked and it did. Does anyone have a idea what might be wrong? I had uninstalled on the ati software and drivers for the first and installed all new for the new card. Help!!

also check with the customer to make sure he put the computer in a well ventalated area. If he confined it to a small desk cubby with a door, than he may have over heat the gpu.

video card

Well it didn't work and he just put it back in his desk. I think it has good air flow no confinement going on. It is a asus mother board with 650 watt power supple os is xp professional not sure how much ram. But he had a smaller ati card in it before and i advised him to try it and it works just fine. Got me but those are good ideas.

sounds like the card just died nothing more... sounds like a factor of overheating or just a bad card.

did he try to reseat the card before it died or did it just die then try the new card ?

maybe he forgot to plug in the external PCI-e connection cause some PCI-e cards dont need external power.
