no, the geforcefx is a total no no dont buy it. its a 5200 which are not native directx9 . the 9500 will perform much better and if its a true 9500 (not a 9550) it will perform very nicely. the 5200 is a overclocked and modded geforce4 which barely plays battlefield 2. who ever voted for the geforcefx5200 should read up on the performances and actually test it with battlefield2
dont get the geforce get the ati 9500 ! EDIT: i re read your thread and it said u have both so no worries about wasting money but the 9500 will still outperform the gef5200 in many if not all benchmarks and will definatly outperform the geforce in battlefield2

The FX cards barely suppost DX9 because M$ kinda kept them out of the loop when DX9 was being developed. Despite that, they do perform well at OpenGL applications (nVidia always has had some power there.)

Hi,
Problem being, you are not comparing apples to apples with your 128K vs. 256 K. For a true comparision, compare equal cards, 256K to 256K. Oh, I like ATI in most cases better than Nvidia, but that is a personal choice.

Tumbleweed,
What you aren't getting is that I have both video cards sitting here waiting to be used. What I want to know is which would be the best bet for playing BF2:SF. I understand pitting two unmatched sizes is against some morality that some people have. But, this really isn't the case now is it? lol. Sorry, my sarcastic-ness can come in without trying. Thanks to all for your input. Would really like some more if possible. |

Ok, 5200 it is then. Now my next question. Would it be bad to overclock it, and what should I use to do the overclocking, and how high would be a safe overclock? The reason behind this is because I don't want to have to spend money that I don't have on a new card, yet. The only problem I get in BF2:SF is that it is very laggy inside buildings.
