Strange problem with 6600 gt
I recently bought an eVGA GeForce 6600 GT video card, and it seems to work fine for most things. I played Brothers in Arms: Earned In Blood and it ran pretty smoothly. I also had no problem watching videos off of the internet (streaming them). However, I ran into a problem watching videos through my media players. I tried 3 different files, all different types and sizes. I also tried windows media player, divx, and real player. but everytime i tried to play it, that program would just lock up. If it was a small file, i could close it thorugh task manager, but if it was a larger file i would have to restart my computer. what could the problem be?

I ran that program and it said I had 2 codecs that would work with .AVI files. They were both XviD. Just incase, I tried downloading the newest version of Divx codecs and then tried playing the video, and it still didn't work.

Ok, I finally figured out my problem. For any other people who have a problem running an AGP GeForce 6600 GT 128 mb video card, try doing the following:
1. Right-click on your desktop and go to Properties->Settings->Advanced->Your graphics card (mine said GeForce 6600 GT). 2. Check where it says Bus, and make sure it says AGP. Before, mine said PCI for some reason. ![]() 3. If it does say PCI, go to your motherboard site and download drivers that support AGP (I downloaded Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Ulility) |
