Post I'm the new guy!

Hi folks, i've just joined the forum(my first ever)so bear with me if I get it wrong. Thanks.
O.k. help please. I have a pc (obviously) which is about 5 years old and the on board graphics card was, up till now adequate. My kids were given some pc games for xmas and hello, the card isn't up to it. I have fitted an ati radeon 7000 agp and the screen is totally messed up, I can't see "device manager" to set the thing up. Any clues? As soon as the agp card was installed it bumped the onboard one (intel 82815) out of the way and took over. I have, I believe, made whatever changes are required in the bios but to no avail. The card did not have drivers with it but I believe I scored the correct one from the ati website. Any suggestions?

My System

I might sound like a jerk saying this but make sure the vga cord (if it is one) is hooked up to the vga port (blue usually) on the video card, not the original onboard device.

My monitor is vga but it is quite old so I am going to try a newer one, hey, it might make the difference.Yes, the blue lead is connected is to the monitor
and everything is where it should be.
Thanks.
