Improve video speed. Help me!!

Firsly, sorry for my poor english and my ignorance in this subject

I have installed in my PC a NVIDIA geforce4 MX 4000 video card, that have a built-in video accelerator. But when I connect the video cature (MSI MS8609) to use my digital camcorder as a webcam, the video is seen very slow. There is some way to setup the system to improve the speed of the captured and the send video.

What is it connected using? I use FireWire for mine and I get 60FPS streams. USb may yield slower results.

I connect the camcorder to the video input of the external video capture card MSI MS8609, and them this to the usb port.
