Unfortunately, an "infinite loop" error in nv_disp.dll doesn't really tell you what the problem is. It's basically the "something's wrong" error.
So when you connect the new monitor, you get this error. But when you connect the old monitor without any driver changes, you don't get this error? If so, that's very unusual. Have you tried different resolutions and refresh rates on the new monitor? Have you tried setting the new monitor to the same resolution and refresh rate as the old monitor (if possible)? Have you tried reseating the video card? You may have unseated a little when fiddling with the monitors. Open the machine, touch your hand to a metal part of the case (to discharge static), remove the video card, and reinsert the video card. It sounds silly, but sometimes this works. The other thing you might try is uninstalling your current NVIDIA drivers and then download the newest drivers from NVIDIA and install them (thorough instructions here). |

hi UncleMacro
Thanks for your prompt reply, I will work through your suggestions over the weekend, It actually doesnt continually crash, it was just for no reason it would freeze up I installled the latest driver so will try the rest, especially as my son was footering around in my pc one of the days. It might take a bit of time what with keeping up with my logs that i am monitoring so you can mark this as resolved if you wish and if the worst comes to the worst I can get a decent new card from Komplett.ie and give this one to my son for the pc he is putting together from spare parts Thanks again alba |
