Lagg Problem playing High resolution and High graphic games on computer...

Everytime I play high res games my laptop has lag problems and the screen blacks out and closes the program. Could it be that my video card (stock 128MB ATI mobility RADEON X700) is not strong enough to play such games?

If this is the problem, what type of card would I be able to put in my HP laptop?

..... I was thinking about getting a eVGA Geforce 7800GT 256MB card? Before I go and spens the money on it I would like to know if this video card would fit my laptop.

If there is anyone with some advise please let me know.

Thanks!

on most laptops you can't upgrade the video system. And you can't put off-the-shelf parts in except RAM and hard drives. I would guess that heat is the problem here. Laptops aren't gaming machines and lack the hardware to handle the heat.

I run COD2, DOOM 3, and other hardware intensive games on my laptop and I only have 64MB ATI. If the games have an optimal setting, use it. My games run perfect, but their not always on high settings. Also, update the driver and see if that helps. Other wise you cpu could be too low along with the amount of ram you have. What are your sys specs?

Good luck!
