ATI Radeon X800 XL Problem
i've owned my x800 xl for approx. 10 months, and i haven't had a problem until recently, until somewhere around october or november. my computer is used for games and i play cs 1.6/css, cod2, and once in a while some others, but i mainly play those games. sometimes in the middle of play all 3, my screen will turn into a bunch of little squares, i can kind of see stuff, but it's impossible to actually play. if i exit and reconnect, the squares are still there and the only way to fix it is to restart my computer. every once in a while instead of the squares appearing, my computer will just freeze, go to a black screen where my monitor says 'no signal' and then restarts on it's own. i have reformatted, i downloaded new BIOS in case that was the problem, i have catalyst 5.13 drivers for my video card...i am desperate to know whats wrong. im me or email me or leave a post plz, it'd be greatly appreciated!
thanks

The sqaures sound like rendering artifacts. They are the result of damaged RAM, render pipelines, and heat. Try running it with the case side off and a small fan blowing over the the card.

i will try the fan idea, but about the damaged RAM, 1 GB i've had for 10 months, and the second GB is a brand new christmas present, so i don't believe that could be the problem...could the fan on the video card be damaged?
and when i go in game this doesn't happen immediately, i can play for a while, sometimes for a great while, and then eventually it catches up to me

i don't have a fan, but i did play CSS with my side panel off. the video card was hot enough where i couldn't keep my hand on it. when the squares popped up i restarted and checked my BIOS, my system temp was 37 and my CPU temp was 41 (Deg. C)...as i asked in my last post, could my fan for my vid card be not working properly?

I had the exact same problem with my X800XL, i had it for a few months and then it started displaying artifacts in games, the card wasnt overheating or anything and i tried everything to fix it! old drivers, new drivers, softmodding
You name it i tried it. i eventually got a new card hopefully your situation isnt as dire as mine was you should check the gpu temp all the same you can do this with the free program everest, download here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml Oh and have you ever overclocked the card?
