Problem With GeForce 5200
Ok i'm not a complete computer geneius so maybe someone could help me out. I own a dell with the following specs:
P4 HT 3.2 Ghz 512 mb DDRAM GeForce 5200 video card Heres my problem...i recently took my computer to a PC doctor due to an overwhelming problem with spyware and what not. Afterword everything worked fine and I installed Norton Internet Security to make sure it wouldnt happen again. My problem is i am getting alot of lag in games where it will run smooth for awhile then freeze up. The audio keeps going but the video doesnt. I realize it's something to do with my video card but the thing is, games which worked fine before i took my PC in, like Command and Conquer Generals, are now starting to lag. Do i need a new graphics card...is Nortin screwing my PC up...or did the PC doctors do somethin that they shouldn't have? It would be awesome if could shine some light on this for me. |

honestly i am having the same problem, although i did nothing to my computer.
randomly while playing a game, i recieved a BSoD. after reboot and restarting the game, a few minutes later, it did it again. this time however, all of the words on the BSoD were jumbled up and a few were made of the old DOS cursor character (big square block). since the problem first made itself known, i can play a game, any game, for approx. 3 minutes before it freezes. i updated video drivers, updated windows and anything else that i had been neglecting. bare bones system specs are p4 ht 2.4g PNY nvidia 5200 768 sdram i am more than willing to supply a spec sheet or any other internal information to help in my SOS. |

Did you recently Change drivers on your 5200? I remeber reading a problem that some drivers were causing the 5200 to get stuck in an infinite loop which then gives the Blue Screen. Also Somthing the PC Doctors did may have reverted your Vid Card to older Drivers or maybe Enabled onboard Video? I would Check to make sure your drivers are current as a first step.

Ya went to nVidias webpage and downloaded them from there but the problem still exsist. I noticed that it asked that i close any internet security program before installation which is why i was wondering if norton screwed it up. Maybe not, but i guess my next question is where do i go from reinstalling the drivers if it doesnt work?
