My System

SFF PCI Cards available?

Alright.

I have a Gateway from waaaay back in 2002, and I would like to get a somewhat decent upgrade from my Intel Extreme Graphics 1. However, have a problem to overcome first. I have a system that can only accept SFF PCI cards, which are about half the size (commonly seen with network adaptors) of a normal bracket. I also have come to know that the AGP slot was conviently left out of the motherboard, so PCI is my only option.

Don't worry about getting a huge upgrade, I'm mainly looking for around 64MB, but if 32 Is my only option, that works.

So, is there some kind of Video Card thats small enough to work for me?

I am assuming you mean half the size in width? Of course the brackets of all those below would have to be "adjusted" in order for them to work.

Are you looking for one of these:
eVGA Geforce FX5200
eVGA Geforce MX4000
POWERCOLOR Radeon 9250

Looking for a vga chart to tell ya which one of those is best, I am assuming its the 5200...

<EDIT> it is the 5200. It is (supposed to be) a Dx9 card, while the 9250 is a Dx8.1. It also has PixelShader and VertexShader versions 2, while the radeon has 1.4 and 1.1. They are both 64bit memory interface cards - so they aren't that great. The 5700LE looks allright on paper, but it seems to have way too many DOA's lately. That would be tha card to go for if it wasn't DOA.

Is this what you were looking for??

Ok.

This is the correct link for the Radeon 9250 - the other one is a 9250, but it is not low profile.

And also - I found a FX5500 that would probably be your best Low profile upgrade (If I understood right what you were looking for)

If you are just looking for something better, but not the best the MX4000(^) will do much better than Intel's Integrated card. But with only $15 diff I do not see a reason to not go for the FX5500.

I am really thankful for the great help but my height problem is in the bracket of the PCI slot (where the screw is mounted) is also shortened.

See this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Showim...igabit+Adapter

The other bracket is much smaller than the default one. Thats what I ment by SFF, its a tough thing to discribe

Any more help would be appreiciated!

my fault!

I think I found what you were looking for, a sff card with that bracket included as an accessory. I thought I linked it last time, but I messed up

(those brackets on VGA cards are removable and "replaceable")

It is the eVGA FX5500 128MB DDR PCI Low Profile Video Card
There is also the JATON Geforce MX4000 128MB 64-bit DDR PCI Low Profile Video Card
And JATON Geforce MX4000 Video Card with Low Profile Bracket <-says with LP bracket but not included in the pics

If I had to chose I would definately go for the eVGA.

Please... Correct me if I didn't get you - I do want to help
