minimum cpu for 7800gt
Hi,
What do you think the minimum intel cpu spec should be to run a 7800gt well - I've just bought the pny version of the above card - on the PNY website it says minimum requirememt p3 - but on the back of the graphic card box it says minimum requirememt is p4 prescott series - I am currently running a p4 northwoo 2.66ghz cpu.... - do you think this would be a bottleneck for thr 7800gt? thanks Phil |

I personally feel that only a dual core system can keep up with the 7800's.

HI ,
Thanks all - the 7800 is an awesome card - i've overclocked the core to 460mhz using rivatuner - its stable idling at 40c - 60c under load - f.e.a.r now runs at an average of 48fps - my gigabyte x800 turboforce (6 months old boxed) will be on ebay in the next week or so if any one is interested... Hi,
Just to throw my two cents in here. I would advise you to take heed from what ebackhus had to say about the dual core card. While we all know that a single core card will handle that video card, it kind of depends upon how much you want to draw from your computer. I will tell you that this card is a horse and it takes a lot of bull to pull that baby. if you want your unit running and working hard to produce what you want (remember that what YOU want) from it, then go with the single core CPU. However, if you want your CPU to cruise on down the highway with ease and still have some reserve (dual core) to pass that car, then go for the dual core. Therefore, if it were mine, I would spill for the best and forget the rest. That would be the dual core in this instance. That is my opinion only and nothing else. What the heck do I know anyhow, I just work on computers every day just like ebackus does.
