Vaoist needs Vidcard Advice
Posted - 11/25/2005 : 5:10:13 PM
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have a Sony Vaio PCV-RS 530G PC with a Radeon 9200 128MB vidcard. I met a guy in Wal-Mart today that has: 1)Radeon 850 XT PRO 256MB 2)Nvidia 6300 128MB DDR 3)Nvidia 6600 128MB DDR 4)All at very cheap prices for sale. He claims they will all run my Battlefield 2 way better than my 9200 (that barely did until I got medieval on it's ***). BUT THEN I READ THIS ABOUT MY VAIO: "The only true complaint I can think of is the power supply is below normal making it difficult to upgrade the graphics card so I didn't upgrade it but works just fine as is and if you really want to upgrade the graphics card you will have to upgrade the power supply as well." I also read that my Vaio has: three PCI expansion slots (one available), one 8x AGP (accelerated graphics port, occupied) slot What to do ? Help me oh vidcard Gurus! |

I have like 226 P/S but got the 850 anyways and 512 more MB RAM and it worked fine. Fine is an understatement - it's like gold. I got a good deal on a 400 P/S too but it was short one wire set I needed. I will have to order one from Sony I guess because there was an extra wire set with 3 prongs for sending extra juice to one of the fans.
