GeForce 6600 Problem
Hey guys, I'm new here as you can see. I searched on google for nvidia support and your site came up. You seem to know what your doing so I decided to ask here. Btw, nvidia support is down if your wondering why I didn't ask there.
My problem is that I recently upgraded from a GeForce 5500 FX to a Chaintech GeForce 6600 256 MB. I uninstalled everything that had to do with nvidia and then installed the graphics card. Only problem is that whenever I boot up my pc I get a blank screen on my monitor. I says it working (not in standby) but it's just black. When I unhook my 6600 and plug my monitor into my onboard graphics it works just fine. I have no idea whats going on. Any help would be apreciated. Operating System - Windows XP Home SP2 DirectX Version 9.0 Processor - AMD Athlon XP 3000+ RAM - 768Mb Power Suply - 250 |

i'm thinking the problem is with your weak power supply, i would suggest going to at least 300+ for that particular card......just a thought

![]() And like DeFcOn Said the 6600 is a power hungry card. Bare minimum 350W, 20amp on the 12V.

you just go into bios mode (usually hafta hit delete or one of the F keys depending on your comp at the boot - setup menu), and you shoulkd have a list of onboard dievices find the card and disable it, as for reversing the effect it is okay, your not risking anything.
oh yeah and id go with these guys, a higher PSU will be ideal, ive read some nasty stories of people running high end hardware on 250W and BANG! a friend of mine has all the latest hardware and runs a 400, you also need to think about fans for cooling high end hardware, as a lot of hardware generates a lot of heat.
