no boot with radeon 9550 DVI

Been working with my graphics card (ATI 9550) in VGA for some time, no problem. Bought myself a 2 year old DVI monitor and yes, I could have dual monitors. Great!. But when I shut down the computer, start it again, there is no boot. Nothing but the psu fan is moving. Canīt operate the dvd tray or the resetbutton. If i disconnect the DVI cable between monitor and computer, everythings great again. So, I have to disconnect everytime, otherwise no boot. Tried stronger PSU (450W), no change. Tried another DVI cable (dual link), no change. Flashed the bios of mobo, nada....
Latest ATI driver installed. Took out every other card (firewire, usb, sound)...nada.
Maybe something with no detecting of signal loss from the card? Any ideas?
Chaintech 7vif4, 1gb sdram, athlon xp 2400, psu 350w
