9800XT driver problem

I have a Athlon 3000+CPU, 1GIG RAM, 9800XT 128MB , ont sure of the motherboard at the moment. It's a problem I've had for quite a few releases of the ATI catalyst drivers. When I upgrade or fresh install my drivers and run any game the sound on my PC seems to slow down and scratches then my PC resets. It only happens when I install the graphic drivers... Please if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First, uninstall your drivers. Then, run by www.guru3d.com and pick up something to completely remove all traces of the drivers. After that go to www.omegadrivers.net and download his modded drivers. They are legendary for fixing problems.
