ATI 9800 Pro or x800 XL AGP ???

Ok, I have some money to spend on a video card but I want better performance in internet, 3d games, and video rendering, and photo editing with Adobe Photoshop .

Will I drastically improve performance with x800 xl AGP over my current 9800 Pro . I don't have the $$$$ for the XT version. Thanks AJ

well, remember the x800 is the same as the 9800xt, so the x800xl is basicly a 9800 xt pro, its only a slight bit better then what you have. i woulddnt limit yourself to just 1 card, maybe see how much you want to spend and get it within 10 dollars of that. another option to improove performance would be to put some ramsinks on your 9800 pro and run the ram 10% faster

This is just completly wrong. The x800 series are completly different cards then the 9800 series. The x800 are far surprior cards. For example all the 9800 cards except some SE has 8 pixel pipelines. The x800XL has 16 pixel pipeline. That is double. THere no comparision between the 2 cards 9800 is last generation and soon too be 2 generation old stuff. THe x800 is current generation for now.

The only x--- cards that compare to the 9--- cards is the x600 and 9600 are pretty much the same. All the other x--- cards are completly different arctecture then the 9--- cards.

A new video card won't really affect your 2D work such as video and Internet. If you want good 3D prowess then I'd suggest a 6600GT or 6800 non-ultra. Both are affordable and offer some great performance for your dollar.

i went this route recently, the difference was really only marginal. there was some improvement in fps and i run a little more antialising now, but dont expect a night and day difference.
