Radeon 9600 Crashing

I have a problem with my computer crashing when I try to run certain games and processes.

WinXP - Radeon 9600 8x/4x 256mb - 512 PC2700 - Athlon XP 2200

I can run most games fine. But certain games (Sims 2 and Everquest 2 most notably) will simply reboot my machine. No errors. Nothing in the log files. Just a clean reboot. This also occurs during the DirectX full screen tests. My system memory seems to be functioning normally, as does my Video memory.

I've tried adjusting my AGP settings. I cannot do this through my BIOS, as It is locked in Auto-Detect, with no way to change these settings. I've Tried various settings through SMARTGART, inlucing lowering AGP speed to 4x and even off (2x is not available), as well as turning off fast write.

I've updated Drivers, Scaled back Drivers, nothing. I have not yet re-installed my motherboard drivers (mostly because the disc is MIA)

I've considered that I may need a new BIOS. My system does not properly detect my processor speed, though it did before my latest rebuild.

Any Ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My System

You need to install your motherboard chipset drivers before doing anything else. Missing or damaged motherboard drivers can cause AGPs to malfunction. You don't need the motherboard CD to install them. You can download them directly from the manufacturer of your chipset as explained here. It's better to download them directly from the chipset maker anyway because the ones on the motherboard CDs tend to be out of date.
