Radeon 9800 pro, Logs folder on desktop? Overheating?

Hey,

To make a long story short... after switching my computer to a brand new case with cool glowing lights, my video card seems to be overheating.

Whenever I run a game such as, World of Warcraft, a Logs folder is created on my desktop with a text file named, 'cpu' inside it, this text file says...

7/13 08:36:50.343 vendor: 1
7/13 08:36:50.343 features: 00000017
7/13 08:36:50.343 sockets: 1
7/13 08:36:50.343 cores: 1
7/13 08:36:50.343 processors: 2
7/13 08:36:50.343 chip = GenuineIntel
7/13 08:36:50.343 standard (5): 1b=00020800 1d=bfebfbff 4a=00004121
7/13 08:36:50.343 extended (8): 1c=00000000 1d=00000000 4a=20342029 8c=00000000

Now, I have no idea what this means! The strange thing is that, before I switched cases I had less fans!

Currently I have a 120mm intake fan and a 120mm exaust fan with a smaller side panel exaust fan as well as a video card cooler.

I haven't O/Ced at all and the only thing that was changed in the case switch was my power supply, which is now 400watts instead of 350watts.

The problem is that, when I'm gaming for quite a while I'll get weird lose of texture or fuzzyness on the side of the screen, it can even crash to desktop sometimes. This never happend at all with my old case.

I'ved unplugged the card and made sure it's connected as well as possible, I've reinstalled the drivers and even had an external fan blowing inside the case! The BIOs reads that my CPU is running at around 67 degrees celcius while I'm gaming.

If anyone has any suggestions, the help would be greatly appreciated!

hello Lionpants,
did you install the fans yourself ? if so check to make sure that the front fan is blowing in and the rear is sucking air out.
I would also try and get your CPU temps down, maybe try using some arctic silver. Remove your heat sink and remove the stock thermal paste and read the directions on the arctic silver site. This may help reduce the temps of your cpu. I also used some arctic silver on my GPU as i use an aftermarket cooler as well ( 9800 pro )
Maybe check your cables and stuff are not obstructing air flow around your vid card.
Let us know how you go

I might go check that Arctic Silver stuff out, but could you explain what those logs mean and why they keep getting created on my desktop?

I am not a 100% sure but it could be a reference file for the game that gives it a spec on your processor setup, I will try and see if i can find out anything further

I don't think it is that, because it creates it for every game, the same thing.

same thing happens to me

I also play world of warcraft and use radeon 9800 pro. I get this folder on my desktop titled "logs" and I open it to get just about the same read out as you. I have not noticed any problems tho...my comp has not overheated to my knowledge and world of warcraft in general has been acting ok. still the folder bothers me any idea why it shows up?

I also play WoW and also have this problem

Doubt it has anything to do with the cooling system or any box problems as I play it on a laptop...it doesn't seem to cause any problems to my system other than the annoyance of constantly deleting the logs folder, but would be nice to remove it from desktop permanently
