GeForce 5200 Black & White TV-Out problem...again.
Hi everyone,
I've seen posts on this problem before but no replies to them. I'm hoping someone might figure it out this time. I have an nVideo GeForce FX 5200 and I can't seem to get past the black & white TV-OUT problem,...absolutely no colour when using the svideo jack. Here's what I've done so far. I have updated my drivers to the latest nVidia has to offer, I've replaced my s-video cable with a 6ft cable in case the problem was there. I'm almost positive my settings are correct because I've tried as many different combinations as I could think of. In terms of what I'm running: -Dual Monitors (which work fine, though I have one off when trying to do the output). -ASUS P4P800-E Motherboard -1.5 GB of DDR400 Memory -P4 3.0GHz -Windows XP Pro I'm trying to output to a Sony DSR-45 which is a DVCAM VTR instead of a TV but it shouldn't make much of a difference as far as I can tell. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix the problem? -Brad |

I have no personal experience with the problem but apparently the most common cause of black and white output is a mismatch between the output format of the video card and the input format of the TV. If you have the video card set to NTSC and then try to display it on a PAL TV then you apparently can get a black and white image. Given your non-NTSC spelling of "absolutely no colour" you should probably make sure the video card is generating PAL.

i had this problem myself and it is wrong regional settings. To fix roght click on desktop>properties>display>advanced then search for the right option and depending which it is on change to the other (PAL to NTSC/NTSC to PAL) i cant tell you where it is cause it depends on the graphics card. hope this helps

OK. I am a computer tech. in Hamilton Ontario and i have a 5200FX i just bought
and i wanted to hook up my screen to play some games on it, but i got that stupid black and white picture, i was looking everywhere and on everyboard to figure this out and still nothing. Now i did get it to work and i hope this little trick works for all of you who have this problem but its very simple. in you video card menu where it give you the option to change the format of the t.v. (NTSC/Pal) Well right under that it asks you what compasite you are using and by default it is on auto select. CHANGE THIS TO WHAT EVER CORD GOES INTO YOU T.V.!!! i have a s-vid. out on my vid and i use the adapter to go to video out, select vid out. and bam u have color XD. i hope this works for everybody and i wanna see a reply cause i signed up for this fourm just cause i used it to figure out the real prob, happy colour t.v. |

Start>Control Panel>Display>Settings>Advanced> And then click the Geforce FX5500 tab Then once i have clicked that tab i have a list of options appear along the left hand side. nView Display Settings Performance & Quality Settings Color Correction Video Overlay Settings Fullscreen Video Tools NVrotate Screen Resolutions & Refresh Rates Desktop Management Menu Editing Right now, i have looked in all those sections several times, could it be differant because i have a differant card? Thanks in advance Scottbunt |
