DirectX versions
Hello, I kno Dx9 is out and all and it was great with my old videocard but is it possible to downgrade directx ? lets say from 9c to 8.1 ? if so let me know how cause im ancious to do it...
EDIT:I saw that directx8.1 comes automatically with WinXP now the problem is how would i uninstall version 9. I checked the Add and Remove programs but i cant find it there. Any hits ? EDIT2: I found a directX uninstaller but im scared that this will also delete the core 8.1 that comes with windows. Anyone know if it will hurt or not ? thx

DirectX was not designed to be uninstalled so there's no official uninstaller. DirectX is supposed to be downward compatible so there is supposed to be no reason to downgrade to a previous version. The "unofficial" uninstallers do not have a very good reputation. I've never been foolhardy enough to try one so I can't speak from personal experience on which is the least likely to injure your system. If you try to run one of those things be sure to back up your data in case you end up having to reinstall Windows. It will get rid of all of DirectX (if it works) so you'll have to reinstall DirectX 8. You can get that here for Windows 2000 so I would assume that one will work fine with Windows XP.
