Idea which PCI-express card should i use??

Hi i am buying a new system and geting rid of my old computer as im absolutely fed up with all the problems i got with it, I am looking at moving to pci express and was wondering which G card to go for. I have been looking at the Nvidia 6600 but will i see a decrease in performance from my radeon 9800 pro? one other quick question is it worth buying windows xp64 or are there still issues with various programs and games?
any help would be great :)

My System

A 6600 (non-GT) is definitely slower than a 9800 Pro. A 6600GT is a little faster than a 9800 Pro.

Regarding Windows XP x64, probably the biggest problem with it is a lack of 64 bit drivers. It can't use any existing 32 bit drivers so if the manufacturer hasn't written a new 64 bit driver then you're out of luck. I'd check to make sure there are 64 bit drivers for all your hardware before considering switching to it.
