Question Problems with Radeon 9800 Pro

Hi guys,
I have bought a new ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. I have two problems -

1. There are two slots at the rear end of the Card. One which fits into the Monitor connector and the other had some wierd rectangular shape. If I use the one which correctly fits into the Monitor wire, the monitor colour goes YELLOW. I tried making the connections tight and everything but the problem persists. There is no problem in the Monitor. So finally I had to use the other slot, get a convertor for it and finally connect it to the monitor and now the monitor colour is fine.
Any idea why the monitor color goes YELLOW when I connect the Monitor wire to the actual SLOT (meant for the Monitor) on the Card??

2. When I use the card for normal PC operations it works fine. But as soon as I play games like Splinter Cell 3 - Chaos Theroy with all VIDEO options kept at MAX which includes AA, Resolution etc, my POWER SUPPLY burns out(The Power Supply capacity was 300 Watts of some company called INTEX) I mean there is a spark and the Power Supply gets damaged. This has happened twice now. I have been using the same PSU for the last 1 year with another GPU (FX 5200) and I never had problems before.
Do I need to get another Power Supply with higher capacity or something ???
Or is there a problem in the Radeon Card which causes the PSU to get burned out ??

My PC config-
-------------
Intel P4 3E GHz HT
Intel 865GBF MB
Ati Radeon 9800 Pro
Intex 300 Watts PSU (which is now burned out, not working)

Other stuff in my PC which uses the Power Supply-
-------------------------------------------------
Sony CD RW
Samsung CD R
Modem
NIC
Pinnacle TV Tuner Card
Samsung 40 GB Harddisk
Samsung 120 GB Hardisk
Floppy Drive
Infra Red USB Drive
USB Card Reader
External Mercury Speakers
Printer
Rear FAN

Softwares
----------
Win XP SP2
Drivers - I dont remember the CATALYST version as my PC is currently not working but its the latest one I got from the ATI website

If you have any qts plz let me know

For problem number 2 I can say : 1- 9800 pro sucks up a lot of power. Plus the other devices on your system might make it overwelming for your psu. 2-there might be something wrong with the card itself . (I experienced overheating and power problems with mine. ( i wasnt even overclocking back then:) )

So if we consider that the Radeon 9800 Pro card itself has some fault then in that case should it damage the PSU or should it itself get damaged ??? Becoz in my case nothing is happenning to the card but its only the PSU which gets damaged.

If I need to get a higher PSU, what capacity should I be bying??

Secondly if the card has some fault then does it mean I should avoid playing with VIDEO options kept at MAX ??? The whole purpose of buying this card seems to be Lost :(

That PSU was severly overworked. Get a nice 450w+ from Antec.

'Sup rahulprabhu_it.

You were wondering if the power supply problem meant that you shouldn't play games witheverything cranked up, you'd be only partially right. Playing any game taxes all components of a system; power consumption goes up. If you check out my system specs (esp. the overvolting) you can see how I easily burned out a 400W generic PSU. In other words, your PS is nowhere near adequate for running your PC; you shouldn't even run it until you replace the PS or you risk burning out the PS, which can take other components with it: CPU, fans, hard drive - yikes!

hey guys... thx for the posts.... I got a 400W PSU and everything seems to be working fine.

But does ayone have anyidea about my other problem ?? I'll try to summarize the same again-

The 9800 Pro card has two connecting slots - VGA and DVI

If I use the VGA then my monitor looks Yellow in colour. Seems like one colour is missing

So I use the other slot which is a DVI, with the help of a DVI to VGA convertor, and then attach my monitor cord to the VGA. By doing this all monitor colours seem fine.

Does anyone have any clue why the the monitor goes yellow when I directly use the VGA slot on the Card ??
