What video card?

Ok, I know I sound like a total newb, but I haven't been into the whole gaming/high performance hardware scene for a few years so I'm a little behind. I just got GTA San Andreas and upgraded my comp to play it. I now have a Pentium 4 3.4ghz with 1gb of DDR memory. I think I need to update my card, but have no idea what to get. Is there any kind of website that will rate certain kind of cards? I'm looking to spend no more than around $250 and would like to get a card that is up to par with the rest of my computer (I'm guessing at least a 256mb card). Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
PS - I do not have PCI express :( Only a 1.5v AGP slot. (And of course a few PCI slots)

EDIT: I have seen a few GeForce FX 5500/5700 256mb cards for sale cheap on ebay, will this card perform well?

Be careful when you buy on ebay. I wouldnt buy a videocard on ebay anymore. I suggest you check the videocard section of this forum there are many posts that discuss different videocards.

good luck.
