video/gaming problems
Just purchased an Olevia 27" widescreen monitor/tv for my PC. When I fired it up for the first time, it looked absolutely horrible, very blurry, lots of lines. Had a Radeon X300 SE video card installed and I tried tweaking it to fix the problem, but no such luck.
I then tried a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 card I had laying in box, and when I fired it up for the second time, it looked fantastic. However, there is problem with one of my favorite games (Rome: Total War). It will go through the normal start-up screen, but when it launches into the game the screen goes blue. I can still hear all the normal game sounds, but no picture. Unistalled and re-installed, to no avail. The game played fine yesterday with my old monitor and the Radeon card. Tried all my other games, Delta Force, Half-Life2, and Americas Army; they all play and look fantastic. I hope this makes sense to someone, it seems like I've tried everything. Does this sound like a game problem or video card/monitor problem? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. The following are my system specs to the best of my knowledge: Windows XP Pentium 4 3.0Ghz 1GB Ram GeForce FX 5200 |

Look in the Nvidia control panel and use the override function. The game is more than likely trying to start in a resolution or with a refresh rate the monitor cant display - so it goes blue.
