TV-out troubles
So I set up a TV out using an S-video cable and a switchbox tonight. Didn't work. Looked up on the Nvidia faq: turns out you can't use a switchbox. My TV doesn't have an S-video input. I'd like to avoid buying a converter if I have to. Is there some trick I can do to make it work? I have an EVGA 6800GT

Hrm. I'm sure you made sure to check the NTSC/PAL output as well. You should be able to pickup an S-Video -> RCA cable from a place like RadioShack. With forced output that should be your solution.

I don't want to discourage you, but if you plan on using this in order to play games, surf the net, etc. on your TV, you will be disappointed with the quality you get with S-Video (conversion to RCA will yield even worse results). I have tried it on my parents' sony trinitron, and it really looked bad. Text was completely unreadable, even in very low resolutions.

Fox made a good point. I've tried setups on Trinitron CRT sets and on my CRT projection TV. Both looked and worked ok for something things like low detail games and low resolutions, but when it came to using the Windows™ desktop or anything else it failed miserably.
