Question Video crashing errors

I'm running an ATI Radeon 9600 at the moment, and it behaves really strangely. I'll boot my computer up, and it'll be fine for a little while, but then randomly my VPU will crash and the screen will go black. Sometimes the ATI VPU Recover will kick in about 5 seconds later and reset the screen, but other times my computer will sit there with no output on the monitor, but still be running. It doesn't seem to do it because of any certain circumstances, it just does it randomly it seems like. I had a Ge Force FX 5200 before this, and it did the same thing, so I'm starting to wonder if it might be my motherboard too. I usually switch the two cards in and out, and each one will work for a few days before it starts crashing like the other one, and then I'll switch them again. I have a Gigabyte K7 Triton GA-7N400-L mobo, and I'm currently using the ATI card. I just had the crash a few minutes ago, but I really have no idea where to begin with trying to fix this. Anyone have any ideas?

you say you switch between two videocards, do you uninstall the drivers first for the other card before you install the other card in?

Yeah that's why it's such a hassle to keep doing it. It's frustrating because it shouldn't be happening and I just can't figure it out. I've ruled out the possibility of it being problems with the cards, as they've been tested in another box I run in the basement and work perfectly fine. I'm fairly sure that it's a mobo problem at this point, but I updated BIOS for my board and that didn't help anything.

I have a big enough power supply, that's not the problem either. =\
