S-Video to Composite Conversion

This is the coverter I'm using: (incase the link changes the converter is very simple. It's just a cord ... one end of it is S-Video, the other Composite Video)

Whenever I try and do a double desktop (or any sort of output for that matter) from my computer to my TV the image on the TV is in black in white. Do I need a new converter or is it just the computer?

vidio card and svidio adaptor

the problem your having is because s-video uses a split signal( y- monochrom brightness and C- Color) and composit only uses one combined signal, now i use and adaptor exactly like the you have shown and unless i tell my video card through the driver that i want composite, i only get black and white. the reson here is that the adaptor is only using the Y signal and Ground. most vidio cards have a driver option that makes it combine both signals for use with such an adaptor to give you a full image(ATI catilyst and Nvidia Detonator drivers), but if you cant find an easy option(microsoft standard oem drivers that come with windows have NO EXTRA OPTIONS just 2d direct 3d support) then you need to use a diffrent adaptor, change you drivers or build your own adaptor(very simple to build)

Hope That helps

We use these at work. Had to go with 2-3 til we found one that worked correctly.
